ESP
Today – Journal of English for Specific
Purposes at Tertiary Level is an online open access
double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing
high-quality research papers covering all areas of English for
Specific Purposes in the context of tertiary education. The
Journal is aimed at ESP researchers, scholars and practitioners
worldwide.
ESP
Today comes out biannually (in June and in
December) and welcomes submissions of previously
unpublished research papers on a variety of topics taking
a broadly defined tertiary-level ESP perspective on:
- needs analysis
- teaching material preparation
- curriculum development
- evaluation and testing
- approaches to ESP teaching and learning
- ESP and language skills
- ESP vocabulary
- genre and discourse analysis
- critical perspectives on ESP
- multimodality in ESP
- cognitive approaches to ESP
- ethnographic approaches to ESP
- corpus-based approaches to ESP
- contact linguistics and ESP
- interdisciplinary approaches to ESP
- contrastive and cross-cultural approaches to ESP
We publish both papers which have pedagogical implications
for ESP teaching and learning in the context of academic
studies, and those which specifically focus on the language
analysis of various scientific registers of English taught at
tertiary level institutions. The scope of the paper includes
(but is not limited) to the following fields:
- Business English
- English in Economics
- English for Medical Purposes
- Legal English
- English for Arts and Social Sciences
- English for Science and Technology
- English for Sport
- Financial/Banking English
Research papers on a wide range of topics treated from the
perspective of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) are also
welcome, such as:
- research language skills
- academic language skills
- cross-cultural differences in EAP
- metadiscourse in academic speech and writing
- contrastive rhetoric in EAP
- English for research publication purposes
- English as a lingua franca of research
publication, etc.
ESP
Today also welcomes reviews of books, research
monographs or edited volumes which take an ESP perspective as
broadly conceived above.
